This application, jointly implemented by Kyoto University and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT), is designed to survey sightseeing behaviors using GPS data obtained from iPhone.
In collaboration with KLOOP, a route bus service stopping at World Heritage sites and other popular tourist spots in Kyoto, the app enables participants to find out recommended spots and share photos and comments while taking part in the survey.
* This app, integrated with healthcare apps, assumes the mode of transport from the number of steps walked (whether the user is walking or taking a ride).
■ Survey Outline
The app surveys your sightseeing behaviors by accessing to GPS data of your iPhone.
At the same time, the app asks you to rate the built-in function developed by NTT, which briefly explains each tourist spot.
(GPS and other survey data are collected only when your activities take place within Kyoto City. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions of the app for details.)
■ How to Join
Once you download and install the app "KLOOP Navi" from this website to your iPhone, the app automatically records your sightseeing behaviors and forwards the data to the server. (Data is recorded and forwarded only when you agree to the Terms and Conditions of the app and moves around within Kyoto City.)
* If communication fee is charged at data transfer, it will be covered by each survey participant.
■ Eligibility
- Purchasers of KLOOP tickets (for adult) who can use KLOOP bus service
- Holders of app-compatible devices who can download and install the app (KLOOP Navi)
- Those who agree to let the surveyors (Kyoto University and NTT) use travel history within Kyoto City and other "survey contents (data transferred to the server)" specified below within the extent of the purpose of this survey

- Sightseeing behaviors within Kyoto City (travel history)
- Number of steps walked
- Participants basic information the app collects (age group, gender, address, language, number of people in the tour group, number of past visits to Kyoto)
- Photos taken and posted within the app (images, shooting date, and location information) and comments in response to the posts
- History of signals received from radio beacons and Wi-Fi access point information installed in KLOOP buses
